Collectors or Consumers…

This entry from my friend Robbie made me think.  Are we collectors of God’s Word or consumers of God’s Word.  I hope we are all consuming God’s Word and meditating on it daily.  So, here’s the poll for the day.

How many Bibles do you own?

Leave your comment with how many.

  1. 7 — not counting commentaries and the kids versions, but they all serve a different study purpose. Definitely makes me think about the that distinction though.

  2. Thanks for the shout out Pastor John! You are the man. Keep doin what you are doin!

  3. I might as well weigh in. I have around 30. I’ll have to look at how many I also have at my office. This also doesn’t count the many versions I use on my PC. It’s amazing how different versions can help you dig out what God is saying. Just don’t let them collect dust on your night stand or book shelf. Read the BOOK!

  4. Hi,

Enjoying your blog posts, thought I’d throw my 2 cents in on this one.

I don’t ‘own’ any copies of God’s Word. God’s Word owns me. 🙂
I’ve recently clued in that most references of ‘the word’ or ‘God’s word’ in scripture refer to Jesus or the Holy Spirit living in us. It’s the Word in us that helps us interpret the scriptures, which were written guided by the Word in them. I’m considering John 1, and 1 John 1 when reading verses like James 1:18-23 which I used to think meant ‘read the Bible and obey it’.

God bless! Continue in the Word, and continue to have the Word in you!
