This is oh so true!!!  Churches get so caught up is humanistic marketing techniques that we forget that &lt;b&gt;Jesus Christ&lt;/b&gt; promised to build &lt;b&gt;HIS&lt;/b&gt; church.  The Seeker-Sensitive movement and other church growth paradigms put us in the position of doing the Lord&#039;s work.

It&#039;s interesting that, as you point out, the early church just focused on the relationship.  The only thing I might caution against is that we don&#039;t take &#039;Going Deeper&#039; as a means to another end (producing the Lord&#039;s favor).  Going Deeper is the end, right?  The fact that God grew the early church from 120 to 3,000 because they devoted themselves doesn&#039;t mean we should expect a 25-fold increase of membership.  God dispenses his blessings as he wills.  Just as Daniel&#039;s three friends said, &quot;Our God is able to rescue us, but if he doesn&#039;t, we still won&#039;t bow down...&quot;

and you have to believe that problem is real and that i&#039;m the only one with the answer!
